HPC Systems Administrator
UITS is seeking a talented and enthusiastic graduate or undergraduate student for a technically challenging position assisting with high-performance computing initiatives.
The position involves:
- Helping to deploy, manage, support, monitor and report on HPC cluster systems
- Software installation and testing, compiling software
- Assisting end-users through documentation, email, and hands-on assistance
- Learning, implementing and testing new technology
- Some hardware maintenance/troubleshooting
The required skills are:
- Strong familiarity with Linux terminal use (SSH etc.)
- Experience building software from source
- Ability to use to change-control processes
- Strong UNIX scripting/programming skills of some form (bash/perl/python/ruby)
Desirable skills are:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience (certifications a plus)
- MPI, CUDA and OpenACC experience
- Network and security experience
- Experience with git version control
- Experience managing parallel storage systems
Not required but very beneficial
- Experience managing HPC systems
- Experience with job schedulers such as SLURM, Platform LSF, OpenPBS/Torque, SunGridEngine
