+,,The magician lays eight cards before you. "Pick a card," he says, "any card, and memorize it." You study the cards silently for a moment while he looks away.

+[["Ok," you say, "I've got it."->Question 1]]"Superb!" the magician exclaims as he whisks the cards away. "Now I shall ask you exactly three yes-or-no questions to divine which card you chose."

+//Three questions?// you think to yourself. //What kind of magic show is this?// Not wanting to be rude, you just nod.
+
+"First question", announces the magician dramatically. "Is your card black? A simple yes or no will suffice. And please, do be honest."
+
+[["Why, yes it is," you respond, feigning interest.->Black]]
+[["No," you reply flatly.->Red]]"Hmm, just as I suspected," says the magician, rubbing his temples. "Now, question number two:

+"Is your card in the suit of Clubs?"
+
+You stare at him for a moment to make sure he isn't joking. He isn't, so you answer:
+

+"Is your card in the suit of Hearts?"
+

+[["No."->Diamonds]]"Oh ho! It's coming into focus," says the magician with a wave of his hand. "Now, for my final question:"

+
+You throw your hands up in exasperation and answer:

+He hands you the full deck of 52 cards.
+
+"This time //I// will choose a card from this deck, and //you// will perform the trick. Since you're new at this, I'll let you ask me six yes-or-no questions! That should make it twice as easy," he adds with a wink.
+
+"Oh, please," you scoff, feeling cocky. "I can do it in five!"
+
+You fan out the deck, and the magician draws a random card with his satin-gloved fingers. He glances at the card with a wry smile and tucks it into his sleeve while you roll your eyes.
+
+"Ready when you are," the magician says.
+
+After a moment's thought, you ask your first question:

+You breathe a sigh of relief. "Lucky guess! You didn't sound too sure, so I'd say that it still took you six questions," he sneers.

+"Whatever," you shrug.
+
+"You were right about one thing, however. The trick isn't magic-- of course, it never is," he adds with a wink. "The secret... is math!"//"Is your card an even number?"//

+"Aha!" you exclaim. "Your card is the Four of Clubs! You see, it only took me five questions."
